Driving a motorcycle or scooter during COVID-19 can come with risks for transmission
Please consider the following information when choosing a motorcycle or scooter for your commute to campus
Always bring a mask with you on your commute. If your commute takes you through crowded areas, or congested roads that may be difficult to stay distanced, wear your mask to reduce COVID-19 transmission. On hot days, consider bringing a second mask; masks soaked in perspiration can be difficult to breath in may become less effective.
Be choosy and don’t risk close interactions with those are engaging in risky behavior like not wearing a mask in social situations or not observing social distancing. If you plan to give a ride to a friend or partner, make sure you discuss safe practices for COVID-19 transmission reduction and establish guidelines for interaction you are both comfortable with.
When piloting your vehicle always observe social distancing and stay aware of those around you. Keep at least 6 feet of distance between you and others to reduce COVID-19 transmission. Avoid following closely behind other motorcyclists moving in your direction, it is recommend that motorcyclists stay more than 35 feet behind.
